Learning project. A movable board with figures on it is balanced on a stand. This immediately focuses the group's attention and captivates them. A metaphor with many possible interpretations opens up: bringing something into balance, creating equilibrium, experiencing interactions, but also dealing with risk and change.
Implementation. There are no limits to your creativity as a seminar leader when it comes to the number and type of scenarios. Below you will find some tried and tested variations.
Basic information on the distribution of roles: The participants are divided into teams of 2-3 people. Two to four teams work at each table. One person is blindfolded and acts as the ‘grabber,’ moving the figures on the board. They are assisted by a sighted person, the ‘speaker,’ who verbally instructs them on how to move the figures; touching is not allowed.
Clearing: The figures are distributed irregularly on the board. The task of the teams is to clear the board completely. The board must remain balanced. Moving: The board is divided into two fields by a strip of tape in the middle. Half of the figures are placed on each field. The aim is to move all the figures to the other field in as few moves as possible.
Placing: A 20 x 20 cm square is marked out in the middle of the empty board using adhesive tape. The aim is now to place all the pieces on the board one by one, but no piece may stand in the square itself. At the end, the board should lie completely flat on the stand.
