Learning project
The CollaborationPuzzle is a problem-solving task par excellence for teams and brings to light key questions that arise in everyday work, such as ‘How do we organise ourselves? How is information passed on? What could our strategy look like? How do we deal with mistakes? How do we stay focused on the goal?’ The linchpin of the learning project is a very practical question: The task is to find the correct height of 8 rods within a wooden platform. What looks simple at first glance is, on closer inspection, a greater challenge, because the rods are of different lengths and the holes are of different depths. At the same time, only 1 participant is allowed to work on the set at a time without contact with the rest of the team. So how does the team best position itself for this task?
Implementation
At the beginning, the group is faced with a puzzle. Six of the eight rods are outside the wooden platform, while two are stuck in the set and protrude to different degrees. The goal is to get all the rods into the same correct position. The team has a total budget of 100 work steps that it can use to find the solution. At the same time, the rules are very strict: only one player at a time is allowed to enter the work area where the platform is located, and they are only allowed to perform two work steps there. The findings must then be communicated to the team as accurately as possible. So what is the best approach to achieve the goal with as few work steps as possible? The task can only be accomplished if information is passed on as accurately as possible and a suitable strategy is found together.
