Learning project

Remember how Paul Watzlawick activated our creative areas in the brain many years ago with the ‘nine-point problem’. Our mental boundary expander works in much the same way as this thought experiment, which is world-renowned among experts. The Philosopher's Stone is a clever little learning project that can provide excellent support for trainers in putting participants into a creative state – and it has a haptic facet too! If you want to stimulate creative processes or encourage thinking outside the box, this little companion works wonders.

Implementation

Each group of 1–5 participants is given a plug-in plate with three different openings: a circle, a square and a triangle. Now the key question is: ‘What exactly does a shape look like that fits flush through all three holes?’ The aim is to think creatively and break out of established patterns of thinking! Only by activating all areas of the brain responsible for creativity can we succeed in sketching this shape. We also particularly like the option of providing participants with potatoes and a small knife or modelling clay (not included in the delivery). The participants then have the task of creating the shape they are looking for with their own hands. At the end, the mystery is revealed with the actual ‘Philosopher's Stone’ (a wooden mould).
