Learning project
Top teams build great things together. But achieving or even exceeding set goals places high demands on everyone involved. ‘How do we want to talk to each other?’, ‘What is important to us in our collaboration?’ or ‘Who is actually in charge here?’ – these and other questions need to be answered together. The answers are the key to enjoyable ‘teaming’.
Implementation
In a designated area, eight components are placed upright on the floor. Each participant grabs one end of a rope (or more, depending on the number of participants; individual ropes can also be removed if necessary). The task is to work together to control the crane attached to the ropes and use it to stack the components on top of each other to build a tower. The rule is that the participants must not touch the components with any part of their body. This is a tricky business. The design of the components does not allow for hectic and uncoordinated action. The task can therefore only be solved through precise coordination and organised, joint action by the group.
Variation: Have your group build a ‘house’ with three floors. This way, you avoid the possibility of the tower falling over, as in the classic version. Mistakes made during construction can thus be easily integrated.
